✈️ New: United Airlines Launches a Debit Card That Earns Miles

Get rewarded for everyday spending with no credit check required.

Hey there,

If you’re a United Airlines flyer, there’s a new way to rack up miles. and this time, it doesn’t involve a credit card.

United just launched the MileagePlus Debit Rewards Card, and it gives travelers the ability to earn miles on both spending and saving.

Here’s what you need to know.

💳 The Welcome Bonus

For a limited time, new cardholders can earn 10,000 bonus miles when you open an account and spend $500 within the first four months.

NerdWallet values United miles at about 1.2 cents each, which means this offer is worth roughly $120, not bad for a debit card.

💰 Bonus Offer: Barclays Tiered Savings Account

Are you looking for a safe place to grow your cash? Barclays is offering a $200 bonus when you open a Tiered Savings Account and deposit $30,000 or more within 30 days.

You’ll also earn up to 4.10% APY, more than 8× the national average, with no monthly fees and no minimum balance to open.

🛍️ How You Earn Miles

  • 1 mile per $1 spent on United purchases

  • 1 mile per $2 spent on everything else

  • 2,500 bonus miles after $10,000 in annual spending

While that’s less rewarding than United’s credit cards, this card doesn’t require a credit check — making it a good option if you want to earn miles but avoid new credit inquiries.

✈️ Is It Worth It?

If you qualify for a United credit card, those will usually earn more miles and come with travel perks like:

  • Free checked bags

  • Priority boarding

  • Travel insurance

  • United Club access (on premium cards)

But for anyone who prefers debit, wants to avoid annual fees, or can’t qualify for a credit card, this new United debit option is a solid way to keep earning miles without taking on debt.
